Earthquakes and stuff

Juuust when we were beginning to think that this god awful year had given us it’s worst and was gonna roll nicely on over to 2012 without a hiccup, we were hit by another 2 major earthquakes today. I was on the phone at work tracking down some horrible lady’s parcel when it hit and even though everyone was screaming and the building was rumbling and I was ducking under my desk going “shit shit shit”, this lady seriously did not believe me when I said we’d had an earthquake and she’d have to call back tomorrow. She actually told me it was “ridiculous” and “unacceptable”… sorry, but I guess you’ll have to find your own bloody parcel, biatch.

We’re among the lucky ones this time around, thank fuckity. We have power and water and sewerage (last time we were nomads for a few weeks until power and water was returned to our area) and only the glasses and jars in the pantry were casualties this time (everything else was already munted or had been stolen and thank the baby jeebus we hadn’t replaced anything yet!!). My mum’s street’s like a river again, and they’d only just finished roadworks outside her house from the February quake.

In other news, I stress cleaned and now my house is spotless. And I got a bottle of wine, packet of scorched almonds and a baby LED torch as a Christmas present from work.

I’m pretty pissed that we’re dealing with this crap again, but on the other hand… nothing ever seems so bad when your Christmas tree is providing a rave in your living room.

Merry Quakemas everybody.
